First BlackBerry OS 10 devices

Just a couple of years ago, Blackbery was leading the smartphone market. Every bussinesman had a Blackberry, everybody loved both the OS and the hardware.
This radically changed when Apple announced the Iphone. Bussinesmen all over the world started to use the Iphone as their smartphone.
Something had to change if Blackberry wanted to keep competing with the Iphone and so many other smartphones and OS. They got the message and recently announced a new OS and 2 new smartphones.

OS 10

The new OS by Blackberry is called OS 10.
OS 10 is a very good-looking OS that is excellent for multitasking according to Blackberry. They say, it has never been easier to multitask.
OS 10 has some very nice features such as the Blackberry hub where all the information from your social media sites, email and messages are shown.
This is something we see a lot in other OS,  people don’t like to check everything separataly.
Another thing I like and haven’t seen on any other OS yet is the ability to unlock the phone without touching the on/off buton. Just swipe your finger from the button to the top of the screen and the phone is unlocked.

Blackberry Z10

The BlackBerry Z10 is the first of the 2 new devices BlackBerry announced.
The Z10 has a  4.2” touch display which is something that we haven’t seen a lot from BlackBerry. Some people may be affraid because the physical keyboard is something they love about BlackBerry, but BlackBerry says the on-screen keyboard feels amazing and is great to type. The display has 768x1280 pixels, which is good but not amazing.
The Z10 has a 1.5 Ghz dual-core Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon processor and a Adreno 225 GPU. The 8 MP rear-facing is capable of shooting 1080p videos at 3O fps and the 2 MP front-facing camera can shoot 720p videos at 30 fps as well.
There is 2 GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage expandable with Micro SDcards up to 64 GB. The 1800 mAh battery should provide you off enough juice for 312h standby-time and 10h talk-time. The phone  also support NFC,WIFI and 4G and it has a Micro HDMI output!

This device looks a lot like the Iphone 5 and I like the design of it. The specs look good but it’s a shame that they didn’t give it a quad-core processor and a higher pixel density, those things are actually expected from a flagship these days.

BlackBerry Q10

The Q10 is a lot like the Z10 except for a physical keyboard and some other little differences. The Q10 has 3.1” super AMOLED 720x720 display which is pretty big for a device with a physical keyboard. It has a 1.5 Ghz dual-core Cortex-A9 processor so not a processor from Qualcomm. The device has the same rear-facing camera but there isn’t a lot known of the front-facing camera yet.

These 2 devices look very good and may save BlackBerry, I do think it’s a shame that the Z10 does not have a quad-core processor and a higher pixel density but that will maybe come on another BlackBerry device soon! Let’s hope so!
