Sony announced 2 new
Xperia models at CES this week, The Xperia Z(which is Sony’s new flagship) and
the Xperia ZL.
These 2 devices are
basically the same except for a few things. They both have a 5” 1080p , full HD
resolution but the Xperia ZL is a bit smaller. This is because on this model,
the screen takes 75% of the device. On the Xperia Z, the bezels are a bit bigger!
Because of these small
bezels, the front-facing camera is placed at the bottom of the device. This 2.1
MP front-facing camera is capable of shooting 1080p videos, both on the Xperia
Z and the Xperia ZL.
At the back of these
devices you can find an amazing 13 MP camera which supports Burst mode and
Superior Auto mode. In Burst mode, you can take pictures very fast so you’ll
never miss that special moment again!
In Superior Auto
mode, the camera automatically detects the perfect mode to take a picture.
Except fort this
weird-placed front-facing camera there are some other things that make the
design of the 2 devices different. The Xperia Z is totally made out of glass,
even the sides! This makes the device more vulnerable, but Sony says it is very
durable glass and to be honoust, I love the design of this device. The Xperia
ZL looks a bit cheaper at the back and is a bit thicker.
They both have a 1.5
Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon Pro S4 processor and 2 GB RAM. They have 16 GB internal
memory but that is expandable with Micro SD cards.
Except for a prettier design,
the Xperia Z has another cool feature, the Xperia ZL does not have. It is
dust-resistant and water-resistant up to 3 feet! Perfect to listen to music
under the shower!
Both of them also
support NFC and 4G and run on Android 4.1 Jellybean.
